For Nepalese women &man, independent decision-making is highly restricted. Lack of decision making power has deprived women of the basic elements of a decent life such as food and nutrition, education, skill development, health, and family planning. This has ultimately undermined their access to gainful employment opportunities and participation in professional jobs.
Women’s role in Nepalese society appears to be changing in the cities but it is only a surface change. There are a lot of facilities available to expand people’s minds and involve women in different areas they previously did not have access to. Women are receiving more education and are therefore able to find employment. The respect they receive in this employment is still in question. The attitude of male domination is the underlying foundation of Nepalese society.

We therefore buy most of our trekking food supplies locally, promote eating local food and stay at locally run guesthouses and campsites only.
